The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region has long been associated with its harsh summers and almost equally harsh winters, which played into its advantage in 2010 when solar power was made more accessible. However, a secondary transformative shift towards sustainable and green energy sources is currently taking place. This report explores Masdar, a prominent renewable energy company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and its groundbreaking plan to construct a 10GW wind project in Egypt. As wind power gains momentum, it is becoming increasingly clear that it holds the potential to further the energy landscape of the MENA region.
