DJI Zenmuse H20T; an integration of powerful multi-sensors

DJI Zenmuse H20T
DJI Zenmuse H20T is an incredible payload from the H20 series, and is popularly known for its thermal capabilities. First, let's get the basics right. The 'H' stands for its 'Hybrid' nature, '20' denotes its 20MP zoom camera and 'T' stands for Thermal camera. Well, H20T isn't just that; what if I say it incorporates the capacities of DJI's best industrial drone platforms? Let’s explore more about the DJI Zenmuse H20T.

The Quad-Sensor Solution

DJI Zenmuse H20T

What if I say the DJI Zenmuse H20T incorporates the capabilities of DJI’s best industrial drone platforms? We can capture anything, no matter where the subject is, be it closer or at a distance; you can always capture it in its true colour or thermal.

  • 20 MP Zoom Camera
  • 12 MP Wide Camera
  • 1200 m LRF
  • 640×512 px Radiometric Thermal Camera

The H20 T’s thermal sensor can achieve a maximum of 8x digital zoom, and has a resolution of 640×512 px, with an ability to shoot video up to 30fps.

With the High-Res Grid Photo feature in H20T, you can frame an area of interest in the wide camera view, and the zoom camera will auto-capture a set of 20MP high-quality images of the framed target area. Then, it stitches these images into a single image for a better-detailed view. This feature makes H20T the best for Search & Rescue and Law operations.

Measure Accurate Temperature

Ever wondered why is H20T a popular choice when it comes to inspection payloads? You can just tap on a point on the display screen to get a real-time reading of the surface temperature. Likewise, you can also select an area to have a look at the lowest, highest, and average temperatures in the selected area.

You’ll be notified in the DJI Pilot when object temperatures exceed your pre-set alert values. You can also visualise a specific band of temperatures to find what is more important. Likewise, you can change the colours applied to the thermal data based on your convenience. For example, suppose you wish to inspect the presence of human beings in a forest. In this case, you can pre-set the temperature range to 36.1°C to 37.2°C (average human body temperature) and assign a specific colour to this temperature, for instance, red. Now, as the sensor scans the mission area, you’ll be able to visualise the presence of human beings denoted in red colour on the screen.

Additionally, the images captured by the Zenmuse H20T are in the R-JPEG. By importing these images into DJI Thermal Analysis Tool, you can calculate temperature and adjust parameters such as Emissivity and Reflected Temp. What more do we expect out of a thermal sensor?

Automated Inspection with AI Spot-Check

The AI Spot-Check is something that makes the H20T stand out from the rest of its competitors. With H20T, we can automate periodic inspections and capture results consistently. Likewise, the onboard AI detects the pre-marked subject, even in the subsequent automated missions. Re-inspection or another round of capturing the subject is no more a pain. Everytime you wish to re-inspect, the camera automatically frames the shot perfectly based on the pre-marked subject.

Laser Rangefinder for unmatched precision

It is worth mentioning that the DJI Zenmuse H20T carries the same Laser Rangefinder that is seen in the Zenmuse H20N payload.

With a wide detection range from 3-1200m, this rangefinder provides accurate coordinates of a location or object to an accuracy of +/- 1 meter. Moreover, the PinPoint feature makes this even better; a quick tap marks an object in view and delivers its GPS coordinates. Likewise, with the H20 T’s Smart Track feature, users can identify and track moving objects by automatically framing shots based on the pre-marked subject while simultaneously syncing the dynamic location of the subject.

The Durability, Flexibility and Resilience

H20 T’s flexible user interface enables us to toggle between wide, zoom and thermal camera views simultaneously. A quick tap marks an object in view, and you’ll see its coordinates. With the auto-zoom function, you can identify and follow moving subjects like people, vehicles, and boats while continually receiving the dynamic location of the subjects.

The DJI Zenmuse H20T is IP44 rated and can be seamlessly integrated with the IP45 rated M300 RTK. The endurance of H2ON with M300 RTK is 43 minutes. Likewise, it can also operate in harsh temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C.

What’s in the box?

  • H20T Gimbal & Camera
  • SanDisk Extreme microSD Card 32GB
  • Storage Case
  • Lens Cleaning Cloth

Applications of DJI Zenmuse H20T

The higher quality visual sensors make the DJI Zenmuse H20T the best suited for inspection missions. M300 users can leverage this tool in:

  • Firefighting
  • Search and Rescue
  • Oil & Gas
  • Law Enforcement
  • Powerline inspection

Now that we know the capabilities of DJI Zenmuse H20T, we may have a natural tendency to compare the H20T with its new member in the series – the H20N. “How does it compare to the H20N – the similarities and differences? Which is the best?” You may find it out in this analysis. Meanwhile, let me tell you, the best payload will always depend on the mission at hand.

So finally, the question is – Does the payload resonate with your business goals? If you think DJI Zenmuse H20T is your payload, feel free to get in touch with us. Or, we can arrange a demo for you on how the H20T can improve your operations.
